Afternoon!
The countdown has begun. We’re now racing ahead with the site, and things are looking ‘sweet’ according to Craig (Head of Development), trust an aussie to call progress ‘sweet’, must be something to do with air down-under (and losing the Ashes).
So here are some of the things we’ve been working on, which we think are going to be exciting.
Film management – upload your film, edit it, add your cast and crew, headshots, artwork etc.
Profile management – all the usual stuff you would expect, photo uploads, filmography, professions, agents details, we haven’t finished testing the newsfeed yet, but that too is looking good
Design – we’re going to do a lot more on this as it comes online and we adapt it to the needs, but fundamentally it is nice and clean and navigation fairly straight-forward
For Film Lovers – basic membership is working, you can be come a fan of any filmmaker, actor, writer, composer etc. and follow them through the progress of making their film to finally getting it distributed and out to the world. You can comment and review their work, upload your profile, ask them questions and be updated on your favourite filmmakers. You can upload films yourself too and get involved that way.
Networking – we’ve done a huge amount of work on how to network with others and learn more about your friends/colleagues/potential colleagues on the site. You can divide people into Friends and Fans, and people who you’ve worked on projects with. The logic still isn’t perfect yet but this is something we’ll adapt and perfect once we’ve been live for a little while. We’ll be hoping for your feedback so that we can make it as clean and simple as it can be without removing any of the tools that you really need.
Browsing and Searching – Again, something that isn’t perfect yet, but is functional and works. We’ll be making some positive changes over this sooner rather than later as we know how important it is so please bear with us.
Projects and Jobs – this is the part we’re most excited about… we’ve built all the complicated maths based algorithms and code that go on behind the scenes. You will be able to post jobs and apply for jobs, once the site is up. You will also be able to do relevant searches – so if you’re and Actor looking for a job, you’ll be able to find a role that is 18-24, and requires a New York Accent, and is based in Toronto, if of course there is a job available!!! If you’re crew, then you should be able to do the same for a DOP for example. We’ve also done all the work behind the scenes on the blogging so that when you do post a blog/video blog the logic behind this makes sense.
Anyway so as not to bore you all, the point is that we’ll be up and running soon. Beta testers, get ready. Still working on some screenshots!
We were also thinking of more competitions, any suggestions?
